Koh Kong is the gate way into Cambodia
This delightful seaside town surrounded by forests and mountains and bordered by Thailand, is a tourist
hub-in-waiting with its lush green surroundings and fresh/cool sea breeze,
beautiful untouched beaches and Islands and friendly residents, makes Koh
Kong a must see destination. The local community of expats in Koh Kong at
present consists of among others the following Nationalities, English,
Australians, Canadians, Irish, Scottish, New Zealand, Germans, Austrians,
Dutch, Italians, Vietnamese, and last but not least Thais. So there is always some
one around to speak to in your native language.
Koh Kong is about 5 hrs by Bus from Bangkok's Ekamai Bus station or 4 hrs from Pattaya. The bus will drop you off at the Trat bus station. From there it is another 1 hr Minibus ride (Cost +/- 120 Baht) to the border town of Had Lek. The Border opens at 7am and closes at 8pm.
The Cambodian Goverment has begun issuing Electronic Visa's (E-Visa). The Cost is $25 and is valid for 90 Days from date of issue, and makes entering the border faster and more hassle free.
